Basic Requirements The essays are responses to a specific question defined by the faculty. The purpose of the essay typically (if not necessarily) is to apply insights from the theory of the firm as an analytical tool to handle specific managerial decision problems outlined in the assigned question(s). The purpose of the essays is not to provide summaries of the material covered in class. The emphasis is on the in depth use of theory of the firm insights. Students are encouraged to read outside the curriculum for the purpose of addressing the essay question. However, to the extent that extra-curricular references are cited and used, these should mainly be within the theory of the firm field. Note also that use of extracurricular material does not guarantee an improved grade. The essays must not exceed 5 pages, excl. front page, references, appendices, tables, and figures. Evaluation Criteria The essays will be evaluated on the following basic criteri...

Experimental data Primary data You will perform a short experiment where you are going to record the time taken for 10 oscillations of a mass on a spring. 1. Arrange a clamp stand so that you hang a spring on it. 2. Place 250 g of mass on that spring 3. Pull the mass down from the bottom by about 5 cm a let go. 1 oscillation is when it bounces up and then falls back down to its starting position. Time how long it takes for the mass to oscillate ten times. Record the data and plot a bar chart of the times. Secondary data Boltzman – Maxwell data Speeds [m/s] Number of molecules 0 – 399 4 400-799 6 800-1199 16 1200-1599 20 1600-1999 13 2000-2399 12 2400-2799 10 2800-3199 10 3200-3599 5 3600 -3999 3 4000-4400 1 Life expectancy data Year’s frequency 0 – 4 0 5-9 0 10-14 1 15-19 1 20-24 1 25-29 1 30-34 1 35-39 2 40-44 2 45 -49 2 50-54 2 55-59 3 60-64 3 65-69 3 70-74 14 75-79 16 80-84 19 85-89 16 90-94 12 95-100 3 Standard deviation Task For your three sets of data please calculated the standa...

You must produce a report based on the following tasks. You should discuss the detail procedure of each task and critically evaluate all the results. Provide all the necessary blocks, diagrams and screenshot of your results as evidence. Any figure without discussion is not acceptable and hence will be awarded very low marks. Include only the important parts of code (with comments) in the main body of the report and provide the complete Matlab code in Appendix. 1. Record your own voice and add a specified noise to the signal. Analyse the signals in frequency domain. 2. Based on the analysis in (1), create a filter specification in order to recover the original signal from the corrupted signal. Create the filter in Matlab and verify its frequency response. 3. Implement the filter to recover original signal. Compare the original signal with the recover signal in both time and frequency domains. 4. Report structure, presentation, organisation and English. https://nonamemohammedalemadi.shar...

This Module Aims to: Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical concepts of exercise psychology for various populations and its impact on mental health. The coursework is in three sections: Section 1: Design a website and an accompanying suitable leaflet that targets/attracts a specific population of your choice. The website and leaflet may identify and briefly describe the various effects of exercise for this target group from a multidisciplinary perspective (i.e., what are the physiological/ psychological effects). However it will focus in more depth on the effect exercise it has on a specific dimension of psychology (self-esteem). Please ensure: The content is based on evidence Focuses on your target audience including only relevant information The content and language used on your website and leaflet should be relevant and appropriate to the target group Please note: ? Critical analysis of scientific journal. The ability to critically assess the strengths and weaknesses of information (EMPHASIS on this) published in the scientific literature is a key skill for all scientists. This exercise is designed to assess your ability to review a key scientific paper and your ability to communicate this information to colleagues in a concise but informative manner. Each of you will be provided with a primary research paper. Your ‘mission’ is to prepare a review covering the following points: - Background to the study – Why was it done? What questions are they addressing? What is the significance of the study in the broader context of the topic etc? How good is the historical knowledge/rationale Has the study been done before?/reinventing the wheel? What is the purpose: Are the aims clear and achievable? Think of the time financial cost of an ill-founded or redundant and therefore unnecessary study. - Study design – Overview of how the study was conducted with t...

Term Paper Topic options for History 364: Chinese Film and History Fall 2016 For the term paper assignment, students have three topic options. Please read all three options carefully as well as “the rules and guidelines” at the end of this prompt before deciding which topic you want to pick and write about. Option 3: A Reflection on Chinese Films from Comparative Perspective Based on the films (feature films only, documentaries not included for this assignment) you have watched in this class, what do you find as the most distinctive characteristics of Chinese films? Needless to say, the number of Chinese films we have watched constitutes but a tiny fraction of the total Chinese film output and it is arguable whether they represent the diverse styles, genres, and approaches in Chinese filmmaking. But in the context of this class, we are going to assume that these films are representative of the mainstream filmmaking in China. Your discussion should address both the motif (consistent the...
